1970 PIPER CHEROKEE 180
$385,000
Summary
For sale: (The nicest, Cleanest, most up to date, better than when new, 1970 Piper PA-28 Cherokee 180 in the world!)
I know, that's quite a statement, and one I have never used in my 30 years of selling airplanes, but this Piper Cherokee 180 is exactly as I have proclaimed it to be! The gentleman who owns it, only wanted the safest, easiest to fly low wing, 4 place airplane for his two sons to learn how to fly in and he chose this low time (3,504 hrs) nice clean, with great paint and a very nice interior, all of the log books, and no corrosion or damage history, 1970 Piper PA-28 Cherokee 180 and then proceeded to remanufacture it and make it the best Piper Cherokee 180 in the world!
First, the 180 HP Lycoming engine was sent to G&N Engines for a complete overhaul, using brand new cylinder assembly's, electronic magneto's, new starter, new Plane Power alternator, new Battery and new Bogart battery cables. The propellor was sent out for an overhaul also. The carburetor was modified with an STC to give a power increase.
Then LED lighting all around the aircraft, including extended wingtip landing lights giving the wing an additional five feet. The airframe got all of the KNOTS 2 U speed mods available to the Piper PA-28 series of airplanes. Gap seals, hinge covers, wheel pant fairings, wing root fairings etc. The landing gear was completely gone through making it like new again.
The entire fuel system was gone through from the wing tanks to the Carburetor, replacing anything out of spec. Wheels and brakes were gone through making them new again also with new tires and tubes. The control cables and controls were all gone through and re re-rigged. The rudder bar was replaced with a new one and it is now very easy to maneuver and taxi the airplane with the feather light rudder pedals. Inside, the glare shield was replaced with a new one. We have work orders and receipt's which list all the additional equipment and other parts that I haven't described here.
Here is the exciting part of this major re-make, the instrument Panel, and it's over the top Avionics! The avionics shop started by removing the original metal instrument panel, instruments, and older avionics and proceeded with installing a new powder coated metal panel and all new state of the art Garmin equipment. They began with the Garmin GTN 750Xl and went from there with a Garmin 500 TXI, 2 G5's as back up units, Garmin GNC 355, Garmin CFC 500 Auto Pilot with safe glide,
Garmin GTX 345 transponder with ADSB in& out, Garmin EIS Engine and systems monitor, an Aero 553 carbon monoxide detector a carburetor ice detector. The pilots control wheel has a PTT, PIC, Ident switches and buttons and Autopilot disconnect. $7500 air bag seat belts!
Buying this Piper PA-28 for $385,000.00 would be like buying a new Piper PA-28 for less than the cost of building it, in this case it was over $435,000.00 Later model, well used PA-28's like the Archer which has the same airframe and engine are selling in the neighborhood of $500,000.00 and have not gone through a complete rebuild. That makes this like new PA-28 Cherokee a real bargain.
